I have always felt drawn to God. The time I spend in his presence I know that’s where I am meant to be. I feel safe. I feel at home. I feel loved.
It took a lot to get here though.
I have gone to church my whole life. But never felt like I could commit to it, because I wanted “more from life”. I wanted to party, and drink, and hang out with boys. I spent years chasing an escape. Coming home feeling used, guilty, and lonelier than I was before I went out.
As of today I am 251 days sober. I don’t have to drink or smoke to escape myself. I am content, and I give all the glory to Jesus.
I got baptized last August in a muddy river in West Virginia. I went in broken and came out better.
It’s a journey, that I still fail at. But as long as we try. It takes faith the size of a mustard seed. You can have the smallest amount of faith that Jesus is real, and he died for YOU. That’s all it takes, and you can move a mountain with it. You can break chains with it.
He calls us to speak about him. To go forth and make deciples. He wants a relationship with each and every person on this earth, not when you’re “done sinning” or when you’re “good enough” he wants to meet you at your lowest point.
He is the best friend I have ever had, I can tell him anything. Talk to him, if you don’t know how to pray, just talk to him. Have a conversation. He WILL answer, you just have to be willing to listen.
He has called us to plant a church. One with open doors, that preaches the Bible, that at its core has the strongest foundation. The cornerstone, Jesus Christ.
